Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first single, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released by Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's reference. Later in the calendar, her songs was circulating all over Dreamville. The announcement of her decision to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. On the record Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was supported by EarthGang. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. Then on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then on the 13th of November two singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It was then released as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February, the music video for the track debuted. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views within a week. As a support act She toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
