Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was host and a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. She traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to attend summits and discuss topics such as the Iran Contra scandal.
